Saturday morning, Samantha (the cat) was quite upset with something outside the kitchen window. As I looked to see what had her so agitated, I saw a female cardinal sitting on the window seal. She was being pursued by a very persistent male.
Garen snapped a few photos and as I looked through them I couldn’t help but think of the children’s book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? It asks the red bird what it sees. (As a side note, this is a favorite of our kids)
I think his answer would be, “I see a female bird, running from me.”
I’m pretty sure this is a bird’s version of flexing their muscles in an attempt to woo a mate.
