This has been Will’s first year of cub scouts. Last weekend was the crossover ceremony, symbolizing the end of the year and passage from one den to the next (or something like that). Here are a few highlights of this year’s scouting adventures.
He started out in the tiger den. He’s learned quite a bit this year. They built rockets, had a lesson on gun safety, numerous crafts, wilderness lessons, and flag folding.
One of the biggest parts of the year was the pinewood derby. It’s interesting doing crafts with a first grader. The perfectionist and wannabe crafter in me totally wanted to help him with the flames on his car. It took patience from Garen and I both. It was a fun time and a great experience for him.
He paused for a rare moment of quiet amongst the craziness that is multiple 6-10 year old boys on a camp out.
Here he is proudly sporting his new wolf neckerchief. You’ll notice there’s a missing patch. Yes, I’m that mom. The one that glued them on instead of sewing them.
It’s been an adventure and a learning experience which I think is the point of cub scouts.
